What is FlexTogether?

FlexTogether is a respiratory rehab telehealth clinic.

What does FlexTogether do?

At FlexTogether we create personalized exercise programs that includes appointments with physical therapists, speech language pathologists, and self-directed home exercises.

Why should I enroll in FlexTogether?

FlexTogether can improve quality of life and decrease shortness of breath.

Who created FlexTogether’s program?

FlexTogether’s unique respiratory rehab program was designed by a team of multidisciplinary healthcare professionals including physical therapists, speech language pathologists, respiratory therapists, and pulmonologists.

Is there any in-person therapy provided by FlexTogether?

No. FlexTogether is solely a telehealth clinic providing virtual appointments via video call.

How do I access FlexTogether?

FlexTogether is a website. We recommend using a laptop or computer with a web camera for a more robust experience. 

What is the background of your rehab providers?

All of our providers are board certified, have experience with older adult patients, and receive additional respiratory training.

What states is FlexTogether providing care?

Currently we are only available for patients residing in California, Florida, and Vermont. However, the support group is open to everyone across the country!

INSURANCE and COST
Is FlexTogether covered by Medicare?

Yes

What types of insurance does FlexTogether take?

Currently, FlexTogether only accepts Medicare. 

Do I need to be a COPD patient to enroll in FlexTogether?

No, we can support most chronic respiratory conditions.

I don’t have insurance. Can I still enroll in FlexTogether? 

Yes

Do I need to be referred by a doctor to enroll in FlexTogether?

No! You can get started without a referral. We will be in contact with your doctor once you get started.

Appointments and Exercises 
What kind of exercises are available on FlexTogether?

FlexTogether offers a variety of exercises divided into several categories: breathing exercises, strength training, flexibility, balance training, yoga, dance, and more.

I have not exercised in years and have poor fitness. Are the exercises really strenuous?

At FlexTogether, we understand that not everyone has the same level of fitness. That is why we provide different levels for all of our exercise classes. You can complete the exercises standing (with or without assistance) or seated. Our providers will never push you to do more exercises then you are capable of.

Are there evaluations?

You will be evaluated during the initial appointment so we can customize a program based on your goals and current fitness level. 

How long are the therapy sessions

30-60 Min.

What if I can’t keep up?

FlexTogether's program can be paused at any time. Additionally, your exercise program can be changed at any time to better fit your goals - just let us know!

Do I need special gear?

No! Most of our exercises do not require any equipment. For the those that do, alternatives can be found with household items. 

How is my progress monitored? 

PT, OT, and SLP providers will closely monitor your reported outcomes and measurements throughout the program. 

I don’t have a lot of space in my living space. Are FlexTogether classes suitable for me?

Yes! Exercises are designed to be completed in small spaces.

How long do patients receive therapy for?

It depends on your condition. We also provide a maintenance program for patients for as long as you need.

Will my rehab providers at FlexTogether be in contact with my other doctors?

Yes! We will keep your doctors up-to-date and request any relevant medical information about you to ensure the best possible care. 

How do I schedule/reschedule my appointments?

You can call us to schedule or reschedule your appointments.

TECH and internet
I am not tech-savvy. Is FlexTogether for me?

Yes - If you can email, you can Flextogether!

Can I access classes offline?

Not yet.

Do I download Flextogether? 

No, there is nothing to download. FlexTogether is accessed through a website. 

Do I need a webcam to join FlexTogether?

Yes, a webcam is required for FlexTogether.

My smartphone screen is too small. Can I connect FlexTogether on a TV? 

We suggest using a laptop or a desktop computer with a webcam for a larger screen. Some tech-savvy patients have connected their computer or smartphone to their TVs.

I don’t have good Wi-Fi. Can I still use FlexTogether?

Yes! We can work in low-bandwidth settings.

Does FlexTogether work on all browsers and computer types

Yes! You can access FlexTogether on both macs and PCs on Chrome, Safari, and Edge. We suggest using Google Chrome though for the optimal experience.

LANGUAGES
English is not my first language. Does FlexTogether provide therapy in any other language or have translational services?

At this time, FlexTogether only offers exercise classes in English. We are working to add more languages.

COPD Information
Is FlexTogether only for COPD patients? 

No, patients with other respiratory conditions can still benefit from the exercises and treatments provided by our seasoned health providers.

What is COPD and why is it important?

Chronic Obtrusive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) is an umbrella term for lung diseases that make it difficult to breathe. COPD is the 3rd disease-related cause of death with about 16.4 million patients in the U.S.

How is this different then pulmonary rehab? 

FlexTogether provides respiratory rehabilitation. This includes billing for physical therapy and speech language pathology, along with a personalized home exercise program. We take many best practices from traditional pulmonary rehab, but we use different providers and care delivery methods.

We encourage patients to attend pulmonary rehab when appropriate and welcome graduates of pulmonary rehab to the FlexTogether maintenance program.
